Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued October 4 at 3:04PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL
Oct 4, 3:04 PM Oct 5, 3:00 AM
The combination of unseasonably warm temperatures, low relative
humidity, dry vegetation, and gusty south-southwesterly winds
will lead to a heightened threat of brush fire ignition and spread
on Sunday.

Any fires that ignite may become difficult to control. Outdoor
burning is strongly discouraged. Please heed any local burn bans.
Take care to prevent the start of accidental fires when handling
cigarettes or operating vehicles and farm equipment around dry
vegetation or crops.

Additionally, the gusty winds may cause dust from harvesting
activities to be blown around, resulting in localized sharp
visibility reductions. Motorists are thus advised to use caution
when driving near farmland.
