Beach Hazards Statement issued October 4 at 12:04PM PDT until October 9 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS San Diego CA
WHAT: Minor coastal flooding and dangerous rip currents
expected due to the combination of high tides and elevated surf.
WHERE: San Diego and Orange County Coastal Areas.
WHEN: From Tuesday afternoon through Friday evening.
IMPACTS: There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can
wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats
nearshore. Moderate flooding of sea water is possibly over some
vulnerable low-lying coastal areas. Moderate beach erosion is
possible to likely.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Elevated surf of 3-6 feet on south and
southwest-beaches. High tides are expected to peak between 6.5
and 7.0 feet during the morning and evenings. There is a
moderate chance that an upgrade to Coastal Flood Advisory and/or
High Surf Advisory will be needed. These products will likely
need to be extended into the weekend.
