FOR STRONG WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR
THE ANTELOPE VALLEY AND ADJACENT WESTERN FOOTHILLS...
.The best overlap of strong winds and low humidities in the
Antelope Valley and adjacent foothills will be today, leading to
an increased risk of large and fast moving grass fires.
* WINDS...West to northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph,
except damaging gusts up to 60 mph in the western portions of
the Antelope Valley.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Falling to 10 to 20 percent by this
afternoon.
IMPACTS: Any grass fires that develop will likely spread
rapidly with extreme fire behavior, with the potential for
long range spotting and large fire growth.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: While the best overlap of strong winds and
low humidities will likely occur during the Red Flag Warning
period, there will be an extended elevated fire threat
persisting through Sunday due to gusty winds and low to moderate
humidities.
