Beach Hazards Statement issued July 22 at 10:21PM CDT until July 24 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX
WHAT: Strong rip currents are expected. Minor coastal
flooding and wave run-ups are possible north of Port Bolivar,
particularly during times of high tide.
WHERE: Gulf-facing beaches, including the Matagorda
Peninsula, Brazoria County beaches, Galveston Island and the
Bolivar Peninsula.
WHEN: From Thursday morning through Friday morning.
IMPACTS: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only
isolated road closures possible, particularly for areas north
of Port Bolivar. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers
away from shore into deeper water.
